Stylish and wireless
This is one stylish printer. Small, slim and compact, especially in terms of height, and what 's more with a sleek glossy finish! What really makes a difference though, is that it is wireless and will certainly prove popular among laptop users. Last but not least, it comes with drivers for Linux and Mac too, so it makes everybody happy!
Did you ever think that a printer could look this good? This 1630W is an elegant laser printer that was made to please the eye. It also happens to be one that will not turn your home into a grey office.

The 1630W offers the possibility of printing via Ethernet and Wi-Fi. Most printers with an Ethernet connection would be twice the price. As for its wireless printing capability, it is simply an outstanding feature on such a model. Be it at home or in an office, we do appreciate having these two options.

There is something that fails to satisfy us however. In order to achieve a smaller price tag in stores, Samsung ships the printer with a 1,000 pages starter toner cartridge. (The standard cartridge yield is 2,000 pages). In comparison, Epson supplies a 3000 page toner from the start. Running costs clearly make the Epson 6200L a cheaper option!

Speed and quality
With an output of 16 pages per minute the 1630W is on the slower side. But do you really need to go any faster? Quality is good but not excellent. Better than Brother's, but Epson and Lexmark give sharper results. However the 1630W fares better with gradients than the Lexmark E120n. Epson is ahead

Cost per page
Beware of running costs as the price you pay upfront includes a toner with only half capacity. We would appreciate if manufacturers would put an end to this misleading practice as people seldom look into this when buying a printer.
Once the first 1000 pages are printed, the cartridge needs to be replaced by the standard 2000 toner.

Good looks, great connectivity (Ethernet and Wi-Fi) the 1630W is clearly our winner even though it prints only in mono. Hopefully this model will inspire other brands to come out with better design!
