The Transcend 2GB SD card can be found all over the place, and an amazingly low price.  We know that the manufacturer offers a whole range of memory cards, all the way up to speeds of 150x, allowing data to be transferred at a blisteringly fast 22.5 MB/s.  What about their entry-level products though?
 
Ordinary data speeds

We weren’t surprised by our test results.  In writing photos, the card doesn’t make it beyond 2.6 MB/s, meaning it would take 13 minutes to fill it up.  Compare that to around 3 minutes for the very best cards, such as the Verbatil SDHC Class 6.

In reading too, the Transcend 2 GB sits squarely at the bottom of the table with a transfer rate of 8.1 MB/s for typical photos, meaning you would need to leave 4 minutes to copy every file from it if it were full.
