PNY SDHC 4 Go
This card is part of the « standard » line at PNY and isn’t one of its faster Optimas. Here, the manufacturer gives no visual indication of its speed and no Class is specified. However, if we look at this card’s technical sheet on PNY’s website, we can find guaranteed speeds of 6 MB/s in writing and 20 MB/s in reading, placing it amongst Class 6 cards.
And in practice? Not all that great... In practice, the result is more lukewarm and more comparable to the Class 4 Kingston SDHC 4 GB. In writing, there is a disappointing 5.43 MB/s for large files, which is indeed worthy of a Class 4. On the other hand, in reading it’s the jackpot and we measure the current highest speed of 17.92 MB/s! In burst mode with our D40x, the result is also excellent with a slowing down only after the 13th photo. More concretely, for a series of 30 photos the average is 1.95 ips while the average for other cards is around 1.55 ips. In the end, this PNY card receives the silver medal of this survey. ![]() | ||||||||||

This card is highly recommended for digital reflex owners. It’s faster than average in burst mode while in reading it obtains the highest score. Strangely enough, its writing speed is slightly behind the competition’s.
