Ikari sponsors the best gaming teams
Ikari seems to have come from nowhere; however this isn’t really true. In reality, this name hides the brand that is closest to professional gamers. They sponsor the best network gaming teams and for this reason benefit from their feedback. Moreover, these are professionals that actually make a living from gaming. SK-Gaming is the best European team, 3D Gaming is one of the best American teams, Nihilum Mousesports MMO: the best worldwide WoW team and mousesports is in the TOP 3 in Europe.

In total, they are associated to 35 of the world’s best teams.

We were initially skeptical about testing this mouse, because of the relatively high price for a product from a little-known brand, but what a revelation!  Once we took it out of the packaging, all you need to do is hold in your hands to realize how much of a star it is.

The Ikari Laser glides gently across your desk, has a simple but powerful driver and is an ideal shape for right-handers, as long as your hands aren't too big.  It's one of the most versatile mice we've ever seen:

You might think it looks like a gamer's mouse--it does, in fact--and all of the advanced features and customisation that gaming fans will like are there.
It's also got everything that digital artists need, with a discreet design that will complement either a Mac or a PC.  (Only PC drivers are avaialble, but the mouse still works on a Mac)
Finally, it's comfortable enough to use in your office every day.  After hours of prolonged use, we're happy to heap on the praise, not something we usually do.

Great Software

On the top of the mouse, behind the scroll wheel, is a button that allows toggling between two resolutions : High (by default 3200 dpi) and Low (800 dpi). The first was too fast for our tastes and the second more suited to modern screens for non-game use.  For us, a quick stop in the driver allowed us to easily change the settings to a much more practical 1600 dpi / 400 dpi, High this time being for everyday use and Low for when we need extreme precision.  Note that an LCD underneath the mouse indicates the current setting.

As usual, button functions can be personalized.  Here though, the options are astonishingly complete, right down to being able to record macros for the most complex actions in your favourite games.  A visit to Ikari's website might save you the trouble, though, as they have free profiles to download for the most popular games.

Despite these almost unrivalled features, the Ikari Laser isn't simlply a mouse for gamers.  As we pointed out, the accuracy it offers is immediately noticeable when you're doing graphic design work, and going back to another mouse is a difficult, even if you already have a good one.  One last impressive point was its silence.  It slides almost without the slightest noise.  The silence is broken only with the scroll wheel which is a bit noisy when turning away from the user.

-

Design, finishing touches, and quality of material

-

Very high level precision

-

Simple and effective driver

-

On-the-fly change of resolution

-

Slides perfectly

-

We would have preferred thumb buttons placed one under the other like on the Microsoft SideWinder

The G5 has lost its place as our ''favorite mouse'' to this Ikari Laser. It seduced our whole staff which liked its more sober design, precision, easy slide and materials. A great product!
