Mediatouch and TV
An A/V cable allows you to connect the Mediatouch to a TV via a RCA jack, which is good news but as you can guess, this means "composite". Times have moved on and the quality is just not good enough for what one would expect today.
Dane-Elec has its own "Music" series and the PMP Music Mediatouch is its star product.

Handling

What’s in the box? A USB (proprietary) cable, CD, instructions, cables for audio/video, a tripod so that the device can stand on its own and a cover pouch. The design of the PMP is rather unremarkable: with its black matte plastic its looks like a sat nav but shows a solid build. The top part has the on/off button and connections for the headset and audio/video. The bottom part has the port for the USB cable and a micro-sd slot. The interface however is disappointing with ultra-pixelled images, minimal settings and a touchscreen that lacks precision. Navigation is correct.

Sound quality

The supplied earphones are a disaster. Sound is average and you can play around with equalizers but their quality is particularly mediocre.
Good point however, the Mediatouch plays FLAC and APE; sadly OGG has been omitted.

Video & Multimedia

Video is the strong point of the Mediatouch. Most of the formats are read and the player does not even require any prior re-encoding. It also boasts a matte display with wide angles. This is more than what you can get with products far more expensive.
In terms of photos and multimedia, all that is needed is here. You even get extra features such as a calculator or an FM transmitter, but there is no radio..
The files on the micro-SD card are not accessible through the normal menu; you have to use the explorer. Battery life is on the light side with 5 hours for video and 10 for music.

A great budget PMP if you ignore the interface.

The Mediatouch by Dane-Elec is not in the same category as the ones by Archos or other star PMPs. Still, it wasn’t meant to compete with them and is much better than some lesser known brands.
