This player, with 8 GB of memory, is a version of the Apple iPod 2G 32 GB that we tested.

Otherwise, its characteristics are entirely identical, and you can expect to find similar results with this product. Only battery life may vary slightly, but the differences aren't significant enough to affect our tests or the scores we give.

We've been able to confirm this both with our own tests and with assurances from manufacturers.

Interface: volume control is a good addition

If you're thinking of trading up your first generation Touch in favor of the 2G, then don't bother. It's still an excellent product, and this new version only brings a few little extras.
