Microphone Quality
As well as offering great quality video, Logitech has also included a very reasonable microphone in this webcam. Without a doubt, the manufacturer is something of an expert in the field. Voices sound clear and don't suffer from any echo or feedback. You can easily recognise the person you're talking to. To hear for yourself, take a look at the video below.
The Logitech QuickCam E3500 is an entry-level webcam, and at this price, you can't really expect too many features.

The focus is manual and the resolution is VGA, just 640 x 480 pixels.  Nevertheless, Logitech has included its latest technological developments, including RightLight and RightSound.  On paper at least, there are promised improvements in both audio and video quality, even in a dark room.  Another bonus is the stand, which allows to be attached either to the top of a computer monitor or sit on a desk.

Image quality worthy of a pricier model

Although this webcam is considered an entry-level option, that doesn't stop it capturing excellent quality video.  In bright daylight, movements are fluid.  As you can see in the video below, there's no jerkiness and the picture doesn't break up.  Like all webcams, the QuickCam E3500 tends to become over-exposed in a dark room.

New: What does the webcam really see?

Our Product Face-Off allows you to compare still images to give you an idea of a webcam's colour handling and other details.

This video, though, allows you to listen to the sound as well as check the fluidity of movements and transitions and see how it copes with different light levels.

This clip represents what the webcam would produce in a Windows Messenger video chat with an ideal Internet connection.  We captured the stream directly at source, and host the video ourselves to avoid any loss of quality from re-encoding.

If you're looking for an entry-level webcam, this is a perfect choice. The image quality and the sound from the microphone are both worthy of a much more expensive product.
