Strange Branding
There's a sort of rubbery rectangle, with a fabric strip showing the AKG logo glued to it attached to the cable. It slides up and down the whole length of the cable, but we're still not sure what it's actually for ...
Despite AKG's decision to overhaul its headphone collection, two pairs have not been redesigned, and the K313s are the first of them.

A Traditional Look, But ...
The K313s look very traditional while they're still in their retail packaging, but when you get them out, it becomes clear that thing are very different.  There are lots of curves and bright colours.  If you like the 60s look then so much the better, as the orange and salmon-pink combo is quite striking.  And that's even without taking into account the foam earpads which most likely will end up a lot darker than their original orange/pink after a little while.  A semi-rigid case is supplied, but it's not as reliable as the one that comes with the K319s but decent nonetheless.

Mid-range Dominates
From the bottom of the mid-range up, that is, where the sound is very distorted and you can't make much out.  If you listen closely, the treble is definitely there and far from awful.  The only problem is that to hear it you have to turn the volume all the way up to maximum, or really mix it up with the equalizer.  Even then there's nothing to guarantee that the sound will be reasonable.
