The Ti is a closed type headset from Skullcandy, a brand that has just recently come to France (2006) and which seems to have gained in popularity with its various stylized models.  The Ti, supposed to have the ‘’DJ’’ look, is available in seven versions (see box).  While there has been a big focus on the design, how about the audio quality?

Ergonomics:   These headphones are maybe this brand’s most "normal" model that we have tested.  And overall, they are more likely to be aesthetically pleasing – although only from afar! From close up, the rather cheap plastic look takes over and in hand we get the impression that we have...something for kids to play with.  But the real error was putting them on our head! Those in our offices complained about the fit, and in the end we had a hard time finding the finer ergonomic qualities of this product which is actually quite expensive.

Audio: First off, the acoustic isolation of these headphones is simply poor.  This is due to padding that does not entirely cover the ears and leaves open space between the ear cups and your head.  As for sound quality, it’s also a defect of this model.  Basses are particularly missing, highs are inaccurate and mediums are more or less blocked out.  Only high mediums seem to be present.  In short, the sound is rough, rather aggressive and a little bit too homogenous.  The Ti does have two qualities however; sound doesn’t saturate at high volumes and basses do not strongly overwhelm the rest of the spectrum.  In conclusion, for audio quality these headphones are destined for people who aren’t too demanding.

While the Ti may be aesthetically pleasing to some users, you should know about the other aspects of this product? Neither sound quality nor finishing touches can justify such a price.
