Creative is already well known in the PC video game world for its « Sound Blaster » cards and to accompany them they should offer headphones. This is now done with the HeadSet 600, headphones with a microphone made for gamers. According to the manufacturer, they are supposed to provide total immersion thanks to closed type earcups and the excellent quality noise-cancelling microphone.
Ergonomics: The first thing that stands out is the headband which is very rounded and consequently larger than with more traditional headphones. We aren’t too sure why Creative made this choice and we were a bit hesitant regarding their use out of the home/office. However, in the end we cannot deny that they are extremely comfortable. The headset is tightly held in place, light, and the foam on the earcups isn’t too soft or hard. Actually, the cloth covering feels quite pleasant although they can become soiled quite quickly. In addition, the vertical adjustment system is well conceived. It’s just unfortunate that the plastic used in construction looks a bit cheap and the boom microphone system makes noise.

Audio quality: Sound production is rather good although there is a lack of precision and clarity. We also didn’t like the omnipresent basses which considerably weigh down music listening. However, performance in games is very good and there is definitely immersion. Moreover, the fact that these are closed type headphones and they do not saturate even at high volumes adds a little more to this last characteristic.

While these headphones clearly aren’t intended for audiophiles, gamers should be satisfied. They can be worn for hours without any problem.
