Reactive but colors aren’t too accurate
Unfortunately, here again we find a defect that is too frequent with Asus. Default colors lack accuracy. Moreover, there isn’t just a lack of color fidelity but images also could have been more vivid.

We recommend you manually increase Brightness and Contrast to 100 as with this setting colors are more accurate. In addition, these were the values used to create the calibration profile we offer.

Handling
Asus has renewed its collection of LCD monitors with a big and much-anticipated change: goodbye glossy panels, matte is back.

Colours may well end up looking less lively, but the whole screen is a lot less likely to turn into a huge mirror.  And it’s actually something we prefer.  Another appreciable point is the price which is noticeably lower.  Now, indulging in an Asus screen isn’t necessarily a luxury despite the presence of an integrated webcam, nice finishing touches and this monitor’s classy exterior.  The other side of the coin is that the screen loses its DVI interface in the process.  The VK222S is a product made for games (it has a good and very reactive TN 2 ms panel) but it’s analogue only.  Also, it’s not vertically adjustable, cannot be rotated, and there's no card reader either.

Responsiveness
We just mentioned that the panel is good for gaming; however, it should be optimized.  You can noticeably improve reactivity via the Overdrive option in the menu by adjusting it to 80.  Once this is done, the VK222S is amongst the TOP gaming screens with the current best reactivity.

However, we do have one reservation for fans of LAN games:  the VK222S has on average an input lag of one and a half images.  Of course, you have to be extremely observant to see it and only the most avid gamers will notice this little problem.

No digital input

We have mixed feelings about this monitor: we liked its look and response time and appreciated the inclusion of a webcam. However, its colours could use a little work and the absence of a digital input is a surprising ommission.
