Asus is the first to currently offer the only LCD 22 inch with a 2 ms panel compared to the competition’s 5 ms. We were afraid this might have been some trick in manipulating the screen’s real reactivity, but this was not the case. It is actually the fastest and not only for this diagonal size. Its reactivity is identical to that of the very good BenQ GP 93GX, LG Flatron 1960 TQ or Nec 20WGX². Another particularly appreciable point was that (as usual) Asus made the extra effort in design and finishing touches. It’s a pleasure to see a product that is both good in games and nice to look at. To be sure, the price is a little higher than other 22 inch displays (especially the Fujitsu-Siemens F22-1W), however, its modest compared to 20 inch models and its reactivity is much better than other current 20 and 22 inch LCDs. If you are a serious gamer, the difference in price is justified.
Exceptional reactivity and styling, but...
The main worry here is color rendering. As Asus has become the "super design" specialist, they are also setting themselves apart with systematically wild colors, which is actually quite frustrating. None of the pre-adjustments are correct. Manually it’s very difficult to get better results, you will reduce the most noticeable dominances. But the worse is that even our colorimeters fail. Of course, the display is improved, however, this is far from what can be obtained on competing screens with proper calibration. And measurements after color correction don’t indicate that we have a properly calibrated screen. Avoid this monitor if you plan on touching up photos on a regular basis, edit websites, or even worse, if you need professional image quality (graphic artist, video editing, etc.).
PS : This 22 inch is one of the rare screens to have a DVI input.
- Reactivity comparable to the fastest 19”
- Design
- DVI input available
- Rudimentary ergonomics: vertically non-adjustable and cannot be tilted.
- Default colors!
- More expensive than other 22”s
- Flickering in movies
- Reduced viewing angles turning to black from below

Overall, it’s an attractive and fast screen, but we can only really recommend it for gamers looking for a big fast monitor. Its colors are too imperfect for other uses.
