A v2 or nothing!
FINALLY! The W240D version 2, or v2, is in stores. This took some time. You may recall that Hyundaï sent us a first version of this screen, which putting it nicely strongly disappointed us. The list of defects was impressive.

In the beginning we had a difficult time with this manufacturer; however, the Korean lab took back its product and several days later confirmed each of the defects we pointed out in our article: problematic color rendering in DVI, not the greatest construction, and forgetting to activate the overdrive to decrease afterglow.

And for once, the manufacturer’s reaction was appropriate: the first W240D was quite simply suspended. Hyundaï’s labs then chose another panel and produced the new W240D, which is officially called the W240D v2. Expected to arrive in December in stores, it finally was carried in mid-January. There is still the small problem of a few v1 monitors still being around and unfortunately stores are not differentiating between the v1 or v2. It is simply the ''W240D''.
If you are in doubt, contact the brand or wait until the situation clears up.

The W240D is another unique product.  It’s a 24’’ multi-source with HDMI, DVI, VGA, YUV and Composite.  Computers, old or new generation game consoles, and home players will all function with this screen.
Besides the various connections, there is a claimed response time of 2 ms.
And here are some more characteristics to seduce you : it’s vertically adjustable and can be pivoted.  Fans of Dell 24''s will say that it lacks a USB hub and card reader.  This is true but the W240D v2 is also less expensive.

Problems that were remedied but some persistent defects

The famous sticker that you want to see on your v2 box

Compared to the v1 tested in the beginning of October 2007, the v2 improves in almost all domains:

        - color fidelity is as good in analog as it is in digital,

        - afterglow has been significantly reduced.

It still has an advantage revealed in the previous test with a menu that gives access to 4/3, 16/9, and 1:1 modes.  These are to be used depending on your source in order to not deform images.

Otherwise there were the following defects:

        - access to the menu isn’t too easy.  The OSD is basic and not very practical.  Touch sensitive buttons that lead to menus aren’t clearly marked,             navigation is tiresome and options are too few.

        - assembly of the glossy bezel leaves something to be desired.  If you press the screen to adjust it vertically, there is a strong possibility the                     screen makes a cracking sound.

We loved: the HDMI, vertically adjustable base, YUV, and the ability to pivot this monitor. We didn’t like: the noises it makes when handling the screen and the OSD. Either way once adjusted to your tastes, you won’t have to touch it anymore. Therefore, we had to give it 5 stars.
