Fujitsu-Siemens also enters the race to compete with other ‘’inexpensive’’ 24 inch monitors.  Their L24-W2 is rare (very few stores carry it and it can’t even be found on the manufacturer’s website) ; however, it’s not expensive considering its qualities.  Two of these especially stand out:

- a DVI digital connection (ok, it’s not revolutionary but some 24’’s come without),

- preset colors have overall good color fidelity (a small blue dominance, but few will see it).  For the most part, display is perfect.

A low priced 24’’ with DVI

For the rest, it’s very classic:  a 5 ms panel assures average reactivity, nothing too special in terms of ergonomics, a very standard design, and especially a DVI connection that isn’t HDCP compatible. This is surprising for a digital monitor released at this time!  In other words, you cannot play HD protected movies (Blu-Ray, HD-DVD) or connect a PS3 (even with an adaptor).

DVI (but not HDCP) + VGA

Decent default color rendering

Basic ergonomics

No zero dead pixel warranty

TN 5 ms panel = lower viewing angle darkens + more afterglow than with 2 and 3 ms

Noticeable shimmering in movies (like on all 24''s!)

In the low priced 24’’ category, you have the choice between VGA screens and this one in DVI even if it’s not HDCP. Its design is classic but not unattractive and ergonomics are basic. The L24-W2 has no bad surprises and it even caught us off guard with its good color fidelity.
