Reactivity: it’s a 5 ms

Reactivity didn’t surprise us and as expected it’s rather average. It’s largely enough for most uses in the office or for photos. On the other hand, some gamers, fans of shoot’em up games as well as movie lovers will prefer faster. We would recommend they turn to 2 and 3 ms models from Belinea and Iiyama, respectively.

VGA + DVI + HDMI on a very economical screen and, we won’t hide it from you, simply excellent color fidelity.  This is exactly the type of screen that we love to test.  First of all, there were modest specifications : a TN 5 ms panel (we therefore expect average reactivity) and very basic ergonomics (not vertically adjustable or pivotable, no card reader) but in the end there were some great surprises.  Note that there is a second version of this screen, the G2400WA, identical to this one except is has no digital connections.  It costs around 50 Euros less (we have to settle for a VGA input) while its performance is the same.

Exceptional colors!

Whether we are in analog or digital, colors are particularly impressive with a final score of 1.8 (the lower the better).  This is equal to the screen with the best preset color fidelity in 2007, the ViewSonic VX2255wmb. However, to take advantage of this, it’s best to be directly in front of the monitor.  From the sides, viewing angles are quite large enabling good readability ; however as soon we move in the vertical plane colors quickly change.  From above there is a loss of contrast and from below the image turns black.    Actually, this is a characteristic of all TN type screens.

Last but not least are this monitor’s ergonomics.  We loved the choice of video inputs (HDMI/DVI/VGA) while we didn’t like the absence of other options.  Either way, for those who want a single screen for their computer or new generation game console (Sony PS3 or new edition Xbox 360, not the Nintendo Wii which is in analog), the G2400W is a good deal…as long as reactivity isn’t your number one criteria.

-

HDMI + DVI + VGA

-

Very impressive color rendering

-

Price

-

Reactivity inferior to that of Iiyama and Belinea 24’’s

-

No zero dead pixel policy

-

Very basic ergonomics

Compared to the Iiyama B2403WS we lose the vertically adjustability, a little reactivity and stylishness. However, the compensation it that your wallet will be a little heavier.
