Microsoft is introducing a long-awaited feature in Windows 8 Enterprise that will, sadly, only be available for professionals: Windows To Go, which allows you to carry your entire OS with its software and content with you anywhere you go on a USB key.

There are two limitations:
  • it's only available in the Enterprise edition, not even (!) Windows 8 Pro
  • you need a big, fast USB key: at least 32 GB and preferably USB 3.0
Here are two USB 3.0 keys that fit the description, one of which, the SanDisk, we recently reviewed and gave 5 stars.

Transcend JetFlash 700 32 GB
200p
SanDisk Extreme 64 GB

Being able to carry your operating system around with you means you can simply plug your key into any PC or laptop at any cyber café, friend's house, hotel or company and access "your computer", data and programmes. Who wouldn't want that?

PC-INpact has tested Windows To Go and describes it in this article.
