It's official, Windows 8 is now available for download at the Microsoft Store.
From today until the end of January, you can upgrade to Windows 8 right here for £24.99.
If you have a computer running Windows 7, Vista or XP SP3 you can make the upgrade via download for £24.99 or have boxed DVD version shipped to you for £49.99.
When you make your purchase, a setup assistant will launch to make sure your computer is both compatible and eligible. Remember, your programmes and files will only carry over if you're currently running Windows 7 Home Basic or Home Premium. If you're running Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate, Windows XP or Windows Vista, your files will be kept but not your programmes, which means you'll have to reinstall them one by one. Either way, we highly recommend backing up your data on an external hard drive before doing any upgrades.
