Apple iPhone 4 vs Google Nexus One in the Camera Face-Off

The Apple iPhone 4 and the Google Nexus One have now entered our digital camera face-off. So which of these two popular smartphones takes the best pictures? Find out for yourself by comparing and contrasting our selection of test shots.

Both phones have a 5-Megapixel camera with flash and film videos in 720 x 48O pixels. However, from experience, we know that even if two phones or cameras have exactly the same tech specs, they rarely behave in the same way or take pictures of the same quality. Take a look at this particular face-off and you'll see just what we mean.

The iPhone 4 gives more detailed, precise shots, with more definition in dark-to-black areas. The colours are also more accurate for shots taken both in daylight and in low-light conditions. Focusing is fast, and so too is the time required to actually take a photo.
The Nexus One is a little slower off the mark, and as you'll see from the test shots, picture quality can't match the iPhone 4.

We'll be publishing our full review of the iPhone 4 on Thursday 15 July, with the Nexus One, set to follow the week after on Thursday 22 July.
