The test results for the Apple iPad 2 are now starting to trickle in from our labs. With the camera tests now complete, you can head on over to the face-off and see just what the iPad 2's built-in snapper is made of in a series of test shots.

We've just finished testing the iPad 2 camera. Cameras in mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones are put through their paces using a stripped-down version of our regular digital camera tests. However, all the tests are carried out under the same tightly controlled conditions of our camera test lab. This ensures we can compare the results objectively. The face-off basically allows you to line up test shots taken with the iPad 2 (on the left), against test shots taken with any other mobile device's camera (on the right). You can then compare and contrast their overall quality.

You'll find a whole list of options in the 'Choose a test' drop-down menu, although test shots are only available for about half of them. Don't worry—that's perfectly normal, as the iPad 2 doesn't have a flash, for example, so there are no shots for any of the 'with flash' tests. Similarly, as mobile device cameras don't usually have macro modes, there are no macro test shots either.
