With over 10 billion apps now downloaded from Android Market, Google is celebrating by treating users to 10 apps at 10 pence (or 10 cents) a piece for the next 10 days!

Android 10milliards

The discount apps won't just be any old apps either, as the 10 pence bargains will be Premium Apps, which are effectively Android Market best-sellers. Take a look for yourselves, as some of these cut-price apps are well worth snapping up!

Android Market was launched in 2008 and offers downloadable content to users of devices running Google's Android OS, which has grown to become the world's leading platform for mobile devices.

With the number of Android smartphones constantly growing, the number of app downloads has also shot up. While Apple's App Store is still leading the way with 18 billion downloads since its launch (according to IDC), if growth continues at this rate, Google's Android Market will soon edge ahead.

However, the Apple App Store is still way ahead of Google for downloads of paid-for apps, generating over £2 billion for developers. Android phone owners, it seems, prefer free content.
