Verbatim has just announced the release of an SSD for the end of summer 2011.
Already a major player on the external hard drive market, Verbatim has now decided to take on the internal drive sector with a first model announced for the end of summer 2011. Against all expectations, it isn't equipped with the SATA-3 6 Gbps connection that most recent models come with but simply SATA-2 at 3 Gbps, for which read speeds of 250 MB/s and writes of 220 MB/s have been announced.
The SSD SATA II BOX will be available at 64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB for €129, €238 and €470 respectively. Another model, identical but with "ghosting" software and a transfer cable will be released at the end of the year.
