Acer releases first 24'' 120 Hz 3D screen

Acer isn't the first manufacturer to have produced a 120 Hz 3D monitor--but theirs is the first that measures 24''.  The GD245HQ has a 2 ms Full HD display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, giving a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Acer is now the third manufacturer to produce a monitor that's compatible with Nvidia's 3DVision technology.  Until now, Samsung and Viewsonic have been the only players in this market, with their 2233rz and VX2265wm, respectively.  As you can see from the name, both of these early 120 Hz monitors are only 22'', but Acer is changing things with this new 120 Hz 24'' monitor, the GD245HW.  It uses a 2 ms TN panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.  It seems to share the same frame as the G24, and its very gamer-orientated design.  There's a fixed stand but VGA, DVI and HDMI inputs.

Of course, the screen is only one element in a 3D system.  You'll also need Nvidia's GeForce 3D Vision kit, and a graphics card that's powerful enough to support the 40% increase in activity that's required to process 3D images.  We recommend the Nvidia GeForce GTX 295.
