The application store for Windows Phone 7 now stocks an impressive 60,000 apps.

Although it's still a far cry from the number of apps available in Apple's App Store or Google's Android Market, Windows Marketplace is gradually growing in size with a steady influx of new applications.

In fact, it's barely taken a month for the store's application range to grow from 50,000 to 60,000 apps.

It therefore seems like developers are finally turning their attention to the Windows platform. Perhaps they've been inspired by all those market analysts predicting that 2012 will be a good year for Microsoft's mobile OS ...

According to iSuppli, for example, Windows Phone should see growing numbers of users in 2012, notably thanks to Nokia's handsets (63% of Windows Phone handset sales this year). The OS is predicted to attain a market share of 9% over the course of 2012, climbing to almost 17% in 2015.
