It looks like a question from a maths exam: 6.7, 6.9, 7.7, 7.9, 10.1 ... what comes next?We certainly found the answer interesting--and we're sure Microsoft will too: it's the percentage of visitors to our site using Windows 7 over the past five days.
The comparison with the launch of Vista back in 2007 is interesting. Three days after the launch of the previous version of Microsoft's OS, it had only gained 1.7% of our readers. Based on these figures, 7 is already a long way ahead of Vista. The champagne corks will be popping in Redmond already …
Even more interestingly, this rise in 7 users comes at the same time as a fall in the number of visitors using Vista. We've also recently seen a slight rise in the number of you visiting us using Apple products--thanks mostly to all of you who read our site on your iPhones, which keeps it way ahead of all other mobile platforms for the time being.
Personally, I'm still a little disappointed. I've only been using Windows 7 for a while, but I would have liked to see more changes with more simplicity in this new version, which nevertheless inherits a lot of its predecessors' traits. But, just like with our tests, you can't please everybody …
