The first monitor to boast a response time of 1 ms—the 27-inch ViewSonic VX2739wm—is now available to buy.

ViewSonic VX2739wm

Let's start with a few tech specs. The TN panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (16:9) and a contrast ratio of 1200:1. Connections include HDMI, DVI, VGA, a headphones socket and a 4-port USB hub. Power consumption is advertised at 58 W (which seems quite high for a TN monitor) or 38 W in Eco mode.

The VX2739wm is currently selling for around £290, placing it in direct competition with the 24-inch Acer GD245HQ. The Acer has a 2 ms response time, but its 120 Hz refresh rate can be used to further boost responsiveness. It would therefore be very interesting to compare the two models and to find out whether the 60Hz 1ms TN panel or the 120 Hz 2ms TN panel would actually be the most responsive in practice. Let's hope ViewSonic sends us a VX2739wm to test soon!
